The psychology of showering - why we should shower more often
Showering is an everyday routine for us, and we rarely think about the psychological reasons behind it. The psychologist Steven Schachter, however, has taken a closer look at this. He believes that everything we do reflects our personality and that we feel particularly free in the shower.
In the shower we can truly be ourselves!
Professor Schachter divides people into 5 shower types :
1) The Go-Getter
These go-getter types are particularly goal-oriented and efficient. Always looking for the quickest solution, they waste no time even in the shower. They're refreshed and ready to go in two minutes.
2) The Closet Exhibitionist
These shower types dream of being on stage, but in reality are rather introverted. The shower is a place where they can let loose and sometimes even use the showerhead as a microphone.
3) The Slow Starter
In their daily lives, these people constantly need a kick in the pants to get going, which is why they prefer a rather cool shower for the right boost. They find relaxation elsewhere.
4) The Escape Artist
For these "escape artists," the bathroom is a refuge from the stresses of daily life. They enjoy taking long showers and can completely switch off.
5) The Dreamer
As soon as the water cascades down the backs of the "dreamers," ideas begin to flow. They enjoy pursuing creative thoughts in the shower.
So, do you recognize yourselves in any of these types?

Now, if we delve a little deeper into this topic, we should actually be showering much more often...
Because personal hygiene has been proven to have a positive influence on our psyche.
The positive effect
Cold showers, for example, can alleviate the symptoms of depression and are a real pick-me-up. But a shower doesn't just wake us up; it also helps us sleep better. Who doesn't know that wonderful feeling when your muscles relax and you can't wait to finally snuggle into bed?
The Creative Phase
While we automatically lather up, our thoughts wander freely. The fact that we feel so comfortable in the bathroom, secluded from all distractions and worries, really gets our creativity flowing.
After these insights, I'm going to jump in the shower right now and get inspired for my next blog posts. :) #mytimeoffline
