Although the use of SLeS in cosmetics has been considered safe since the 1930s, these types of surfactants have recently gotten a bad reputation. But why?

Sodium Laureth Sulfate , or simply SLES, is a surfactant used in many cosmetics for its cleansing properties. Surfactants bind to oil-based dirt, making it easy to rinse away with water. SLES is also responsible for lathering in products. This wonderfully soft lather is what makes many shower gels and shampoos so appealing. Our shower jellies are no exception, leaving a light layer of lather on the skin.
SLeS also works without palm oil.
The biggest problem, as with so many things, is probably the environmental impact . On the one hand, the extraction of raw materials plays a crucial role here. SLeS is sometimes produced using palm oil. Manufacturing it without palm oil is very difficult and expensive. However, we use palm oil-free SLeS for our shower jellies .
SLeS, but completely natural - I promise!
In general, we consciously chose over 90% natural and 100% vegan ingredients . For example, we use seaweed extracts to make our shower jellies feel so soft on the skin. You can also feel the naturalness of our products when their properties change at different temperatures. In summer, you might notice that our shower jellies become a little softer. However, we are currently testing new seaweed extracts to continuously improve our products and keep you happy.

Save the Ocean – we certainly will!
On the other hand, the product residues caused by SLeS are criticized. However, rest assured: all cosmetics that decompose into non-toxic components within 96 hours are compostable and pose no threat to the environment. This is also true for SLeS. Furthermore, this means that no harmful residues enter the water cycle. Our shower jellies are therefore safe for Nemo & Co.

SLeS – Highly toxic or as gentle as a pet?
Another unfortunately widespread rumor is that SLeS is often linked to cancer. However, this is false, as there are currently no scientific studies that prove SLeS has anything to do with cancer . So you don't need to worry about our jellies. The only thing that can happen when you use our jellies ? That you relax even more!
Why do SLeS have a drying effect?
It's also rumored that SLeS can irritate the skin because of its strong cleansing effect. Well, you do feel super clean after using shower jellies, which is, after all, the whole point. And our research has confirmed that sulfates, which are responsible for the lather in products, can have a drying effect. However, this only applies if the sulfates aren't rinsed off thoroughly. This means, especially when using shampoos, that you should rinse the product off completely. Residues that remain on the skin for too long (i.e., several hours) can cause irritation . But since you're using our shower jellies and rinsing off the lather , this isn't a concern.
Completely relaxed under the next shower
So, despite the negative reputation of SLEs in cosmetic products, we can put your mind at ease : our shower jellies are harmless and add fun to your shower. Despite the criticism, SLEs are primarily there to clean us and, with a little lather on our skin, create a wonderful shower experience .
As they say, the dose makes the poison. We deliberately avoided a high SLeS content , which is why our shower jellies don't lather as much as conventional shower gels. So rest assured, the SLeS in our products is in no way harmful to the environment. Besides, the SLeS content is so small that you can hop in the shower with a clear conscience !
